Chlorella is a unicellular green algae that is cultivated for use as a biologically active additive in the diet of bees. Chlorella is an active producer of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and vitamins. It contains in terms of dry matter: complete proteins about 40% or more, lipids – up to 20%, carbohydrates – up to 35%, ash substances – up to 10%. It contains B vitamins, including B12, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and phylloquinones (vitamin K). Contains a substance that has antibiotic activity – “chlorella”. Due to the unique amino acid composition of chlorella itself and its synthesis products produced in the nutrient medium for algae, chlorella is a natural immunostimulant and probiotic with a wide range of therapeutic and prophylactic properties, which makes it promising for use in beekeeping.
